The Ministry of External Affairs has scheduled the 88th edition of its Know India Programme from August 16 to 29, bringing selected young members of the Indian diaspora to India for an educational and cultural visit.
The programme is designed to familiarize participants with contemporary India as well as the country’s heritage. Its itinerary generally covers areas such as arts, culture, economic development, innovation, start-ups, science and technology.
According to government figures, the ministry completed 87 editions of the programme between its introduction in 2003–04 and the present round, involving 3,153 young participants of Indian origin.
The initiative is intended to strengthen connections between India and younger generations of the overseas community, particularly those who have grown up outside the country.
Applications for the current edition closed on July 16. The start of the programme does not represent a new immigration policy, OCI benefit or reopening of registration. Participation is limited to candidates selected through the application process.
