Three-time Olympian Milkha Singh’s wife and former captain of Indian women’s volleyball team Nirmal Kaur died on Sunday due to COVID-19 complications, almost three weeks after contracting the virus.

Milkha Singh (91), who’s in ICU in Chandigarh’s PGIMER, couldn’t attend his wife’s cremation, a family statement said. Nirmal, who was 85, was undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital in Punjab.
