-VEHICLES NOT REFLECTING ON VAHAN MAY LEAD TO ISSUES RELATED TO INSURANCE, POLLUTION CLEARANCE AND CHALLANING

CHANDIGARH, MAY 07: The Punjab Government in order to facilitate Motor Vehicle Owners to to get their vehicles reflected on VAHAN application has extended the facility to apply for the same online while sitting at home. This facility is only for those vehicles which are registered under the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 and  assigned registration mark under the CMV Rules 1989. It was disclosed by Dr. Amarpal Singh, State Transport Commissioner (STC), Punjab in a press release here today.

STC while highlighting the importance of the registration of vehicle on VAHAN said that it is mandatory for vehicles to be reflected on VAHAN as the National  Register of Motor Vehicles is maintained through VAHAN application of GOI. He also informed that during checking of vehicles now particulars of the vehicle are checked by enforcement agencies through VAHAN portal and mParivahan app of GOI. Therefore it’s very important that  the vehicle is reflected on VAHAN and now pollution clearance and insurance details are also reflected on VAHAN. He said that vehicles not reflecting in VAHAN may lead to issues related to insurance, pollution clearance and challaning.

State Transport Commissioner said that now a person has no need to visit RTA or SDM office for this service, commonly known as BACKLOG of vehicle as the access of the staff to the system to generate backlog entry has been blocked, it is now in the hands of the public Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic this exercise will help in reducing movement of the public and will also make the whole process of registration of vehicle on VAHAN more efficient and transparent. He said that on the other hand this will also protect the Motor Vehicle Owner from any exploitation and corruption.

 Dr. Amarpal Singh said that vehicle owners are advised to get the same reflected on VAHAN by June 15, 2020 by applying online at www.punjabtransport.org.
