While seeking adjournment of petitions for recognition of same-sex marriages under existing law, the Centre told the Delhi HC on Monday that there were other urgent matters that needed consideration amid the pandemic.

“You don’t need a marriage certificate for hospitals. Nobody is dying because they don’t have a marriage certificate,” said Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for Centre.
