New York: An Indian-origin man has been fined $ 8.6 million in reimbursement and serves home detention of six months for commencing a series of cyber attacks on the computer network of a top US university.
22-year-old Paras Jha of New Jersey had formerly pleaded guilty before US District Judge Michael Shipp to breaking the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
Also, he played a part in creating click fraud botnets which infected hundreds of thousands of devices with malevolent software.
Last week, Paras was sentenced to five years of special or mandatory parole (supervised release) from jail and ordered him to carry out community services for 2,500 hours by Trenton federal court.
