Chandigarh – The Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union strongly condemns brutal attack on the Zirakhpur based Journalist Alok Verma who is presently working with Amar Ujala Newspaper.
According to information , he was attacked by a person last night when he was returning back home after office in Zirakpur . The accused attacked Alok Verma with a bat and an iron rod on his head and fled away taking his wallet and mobile phone.
The state president of Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union Balwinder Singh Jammu, Secretary General Pritam Singh Ruppal, Secretary Jai Singh Chhibber in a joint statement have said although the case has been registered by the police in this regard but the incident is serious in nature. They have urged the Punjab DGP to take a stern action against the culprits at the earliest.
