Chandigarh: A delegation of the Punjab Congress led by its president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today met the Governor Banwarilal Purohit and apprised him about the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. The delegation comprised of the CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa, Working President Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Deputy CLP leader Dr Rajkumar Chabbewal, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and former Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.

The delegation sought a probe by any of the central investigating agencies, whether the CBI or the NIA into the assassination of Sidhu Moosewala saying nobody had any faith in the state government. It said, the Aam Aadmi Party government led by Bhagwant Mann had proved to be disastrous for the state. No doubt the AAP got public mandate, but they have proved to be complete failure, the delegation said, adding, the recent broad daylight assassination of an internationally acclaimed Punjabi singer, Shubhdeep Singh Sudhu Moosewala is a warning call for all of us.

It was not a routine murder, but well conceived conspiracy executed so daringly that the assailants had no fear of law. It was an ambush done with such an audacity. Even after three days of the assassination the police have no clue. They are only latching on the “confessions” made by some people on social media. The delegation told the Governor that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been a complete disaster. Moreover, he is either callous or incompetent to understand the gravity of the situation and the tragedy.

He did not have the courtesy to pay a condolence visit to the bereaved parents whose only son fell victim to the bullets of assassins as his security had not only been withdrawn, but also public spectacle made of it for cheap populism, it added. “It is a double whammy. Bhagwant Mann is not only incompetent, he is dictated from Delhi by those who have not an iota of an idea about what is happening in Punjab” it said, adding, “Punjab, as we have always been saying, cannot be left in such hands. People are not feeling safe.

Anybody can kill anyone at his own will. There’s no fear of law”. The delegation cautioned, “We have been repeatedly saying, Punjab is not Delhi and we are being proved right as this government has neither any experience nor any competence, as has been proved, to run Punjab”. Flagging the issue for serious attention of the Governor, the delegation members said, “we have already seen the worst just three decades ago, we cannot afford another phase of anarchy and lawlessness. Punjab cannot progess amidst anarchy.

In fact no state can”. Only today, just few hours ago, according to media reports, a passenger bus was hijacked on the busy Ludhiana-Jalandhar highway and passengers were looted at gunpoint, it said, adding, this is unprecedented and has only added to fear among the people. “Lawlessness and anarchy is at its extreme peak”, the PCC delegation added.
