Morinda/Chandigarh: Public Works and Power Minister Sh. Harbhajan Singh along with local MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh on Wednesday inaugurated Railway Under Bridge on Chandigarh-Ludhiana road (old NH-95) at LC-24B on Sirhind-Nangal Dam-Amb Andaura rail section.
Giving details on the occasion, Mr. Harbhajan Singh said that there has immense demand from local population for putting the constructed RUB to use, as presently, lots of time is wasted due to closure of level crossing. As there will be no idling time for vehicles, there will be reduction in environmental pollution.
This bridge will provide a big relief to the residents of city and passengers from other areas who visit Morinda. Addressing the gathering he informed that the project is being executed on a 50:50 cost sharing basis between Railway and Punjab Government at a cost of Rs. 22 crore.
The work of via-duct of RUB is completed and the construction of Service road is under advanced stages of completion & is likely to be completed shortly. He said that the Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann is fully committed to give Punjab a transparent system.
He said that all our Ministers and MLAs would work under a transparent system so that people would not face any problem. He also promised that all development works of City Morinda to be completed on priority basis and there is no shortage of funds for development projects.
MLA, Morinda Dr. Charanjit Singh said that this RUB was a long pending demand of the constituency and general people suffered a lot due to ignorant attitude of previous governments. The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken strict actions to make Punjab corruption free and he assured that our government would soon restore the pristine glory of State.
Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar Dr. Preeti Yadav, PWD Chief Engineer Mr. Amardeep Singh, S.E. Ramtesh Singh Bains, Xen Yuvraj Bindra, Xen Jasbir Singh Jassi, S.D.M. Morinda Sh. Jasbir Singh, S.D.Es. Manjit Singh & Lakhwinder Singh and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
