Patiala: Multani Mal Modi College inaugurated ‘Rain Water Harvesting System’ and ‘New Parking Space’ for the students at the campus under the series of initiatives by the college under Jal Shakti Jan Shakti Programme and ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’. These both systems were inaugurated by Smt. Poonamdeep Kaur, IAS, Commissioner Municipal Corporation.  The inauguration was attended by Sh. Lal Vishvash, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Dr. Charanjit Singh, Deputy Director, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Mr. Amandeep Sekhon, Programme Co-ordinator, Swachh Bharat Mission and Sh. Dalip Kumar, XEN, (Horticulture), College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries.

He said that water is life-line of human existence. He told that college is committed to preservation of eco-system and contributing in national development by investing and implementing different national ecological and development programmes initiated by Government of India. Dr. Manish Sharma presented a detailed report about the student sensitization about environment and implementation of solid waste management, recycling of the waste material, composting, preservation of fauna and flora and to make campus plastic free. Smt. Poonam deep Kaur while addressing the students motivated them to make a bridge between the government and the general public. Emphasising the need for community participation to make ‘Clean Patiala: Green Patiala’ a success. she told that  Corporation is committed to serve the people and to save our environment. The stage was conducted by Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Dean, Life Sciences. vote of thanks was presented by Vice Principal Dr. Baljinder Kaur. All students and faculty members were present on the inauguration. A sapling was also planted at the new parking space.
