KYIV/MOSCOW — Russia said it would continue large-scale strikes against Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, while warning foreign nationals and diplomatic personnel against remaining in the capital. Another attack damaged Kyiv’s Northern Bridge, the latest transport link across the Dnipro River to be targeted.
Ukrainian officials reported at least six civilian deaths in attacks across the country, including casualties around Kharkiv and Odesa. Russia describes its campaign as retaliation against Ukrainian attacks and denies intentionally targeting civilians.
Why it matters: An explicit warning to diplomats signals that Kyiv may face a sustained campaign against transportation and other infrastructure as winter approaches.
