Sangrur: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that the Sangrur parliamentary by-election will be a wake up call for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in the state that it cannot take the people of Punjab for granted. “If you want to set them right and bring them into senses, ensure that you elect the Congress candidate from here”, he told voters of Sangrur here today.

Addressing a series of public meetings after inaugurating election offices at different places in the constituency, Warring said, the way AAP government led by Bhagwant Mann had completely failed in the state, people of Punjab were looking up to Sangrur voters to teach this government a lesson by voting against it and electing the Congress candidate. Appealing to the Sangrur voters not to waste their vote with AAP, he pointed out, the AAP does not have any member in the Lok Sabha and a single MP will not make any difference in any case.

“Remember, they sold out all the seven Rajya Sabha seats in Punjab and none of the seven RS members has ever uttered a single word inside or outside the parliament in favour of Punjab”, he pointed out, while asking, “will you repeat the mistake again?” “Ask yourself, does the AAP candidate stand any comparison to Dalvir Goldy?” he asked the crowds amidst thumping applause, while challenging the AAP for a direct debate between Goldy and the AAP candidate Gurmail Singh.

Warring said, the AAP had already sensed the mood of people in Sangrur that is why the party decided not to field Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s sister, Manpreet Kaur from here as it would have ended up in great embarrassment for the party as her defeat was certain. The PCC President appealed to the people of Sangrur that it was a golden opportunity to bring this arrogant government to its senses.

“You gave them a sweeping mandate and the success went into their head”, he said, while adding, the AAP government and its ministers were not at all bothered about the state and had instead resorted to political vendetta against opponents.
