From the 1960s to the 1970s, Prithviraj Kapoor’s father Shammi Kapoor ruled the film industry with his charming looks and talent. The actor started his career with the 1953 release Jeevan Jyoti, however, that film didn’t work at the box-office but later after struggling for almost 4 years it was his film Tumsa Nahin Dekha which turned his career graph. The actor became an overnight sensation and garnered a lot of fan following. But his success didn’t stop there, it was just a beginning. Later Shammi Kapoor proved that he is here to stay with blockbusters like  Dil Deke Dekho, Singapore, Junglee, College Girl, Professor, China Town, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya.

Brother to other iconic stars Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor and son to Prithviraj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor too joined the acting business and made a place for himself. The actor who garnered a lot of eyeballs and the number of fan following departed from the world at the age of 80 due to renal failure, and today marks his 86th birth Aniversary.

The actor who had a hyped real, as well as reel life, was last seen in Ranbir Kapoor’s super hit film Rockstar. Talking about his personal life, Shammi Kapoor married twice, once to Geeta Bali, who later passed away due to smallpox. He had two kids, Aditya Kapoor and Kanchan Kapoor with Geeta. Later he tied a knot with Neila Devi, the wedding was arranged by his family and the union was intact till his death.
