Also requests stop be granted for Gorakhdham Express at Aligarh to facilitate people of Bathinda

Also distributes pipes worth Rs 60 lakh to drain out water from fields in Malout and Gidderbaha

Bathinda: Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today demanded that the Railway Siding in Mansa be shifted out of the town to end traffic congestion as well as increasing accidents.

Raising this demand in parliament, Mrs Harsimrat Badal said the Railway Siding was in the centre of the city and that loading and unloading of rakes of food grains, cement and fertilizer inconvenienced its residents due to resultant traffic jams. She said besides congesting roads, the presence of large numbers of trucks moving to and fro from the Railway Siding caused accidents in the town. She demanded that the Railway Siding be shifted out of the city to Narinderpura Station.

In another development, Mrs Badal also appealed that the Gorakhdham Express which had been extended to the city earlier at her instance be granted a stop at Aligarh. The MP said a large number of businessmen from Bathinda went to Aligarh for business purposes due to the lock and brassware industry there. She said besides this due to the large army and air force station in the city and other institutions like NFL and Refinery there was a large number of people visiting Aligarh on a regular basis and granting a stop at Aligarh would facilitate them immensely.

Meanwhile the Bathinda MP also distributed pipes worth Rs 60 lakh for disposal of drainage water in Malout and Gidderbaha. Mrs Badal said she had taken this initiative following complaints from farmers that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had not taken any step to drain out water from their fields after heavy rains lashed the area recently. The pipes were distributed in worst affected areas of Ratta Khera, Panniwala Fatta, Pakki Tibbi, Midda, Aspal, Bodiwala, Sarawan, Ratta Khera, Lalbai and Alamwala in Maout and Tharajwala in Gidderbaha.
