Urges people to take inspiration from Bhagat Puran Singh and serve humanity

Chandigarh: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has called for purification and conservation of the most precious things of nature— water, air and earth, to protect the environment. In order to preserve the environment, he asked people to seek inspiration from Bhagat Puran Singh Pingalwara, whose birth anniversary is on 4th June.

He said Bhagat Puran Singh spent his entire life in to service the humanity and the environment. “All of us should take initiatives that can keep water, air and earth healthy. It will be the greatest service to mankind if we can protect our natural resources from pollution and other menaces,” he said. Expressing concern over deteriorating environment, he said incessant pollution in water, air and the earth has led to myriad of new diseases, which are engulfing every living being.

He said that due to stubble burning, the nutrients in the fields are dismissing and the smoke caused by the fire also leading to road mishaps. Likewise, the pure drinkable water is also being wasted. The Speaker further said that conservation of nature and proper use of natural resources cannot be ensured without the cooperation of the people. He said human life cannot be imagined without a healthy environment and nature.

“Let us all take a pledge, on the occasion of World Environment Day, we will take such initiatives that will create a healthy natural environment,” Sandhwan said.
