Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has emerged as the sole candidate to be the World Health Organization’s (WHO) chief, paving the way for a second term, the UN agency said on Friday.

Tedros, who was nominated by 28 countries, was the first African elected as WHO Director-General in May 2017. Tedros had previously served as the Health and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia.
