Washington: Microblogging site Twitter has donated 15 15 million, or about Rs 110 crore, to help India battling the second wave of corona. Twitter CEO Jack Patrick Dorsey tweeted the details on Monday, explaining how the money would reach India. According to Jack Dorsey, the money was given to three NGOs – CARE, Aid India and Sewa Internationa USA. Of this, CARE received 1 10 million, Aid India and Sewa Internation USA received – 2.5 million each.

“Seva International is a humanitarian and non-profit Seva organization based on Hindu faith,” Twitter said in a statement. The grant will be used to purchase life-saving equipment such as oxygen concentrators, ventilators, bipap (bipolar positive airway pressure) machines under Seva International’s ‘Help India Defeat Covid-19’ campaign, the statement said. Kovid-19 will be distributed in care centers and hospitals.
Reacting to the announcement, Seva International Vice President Sandeep Khadkekar (Marketing and Fund Development) thanked Dorsey for the donation and said that it recognizes Seva’s work.

“It is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and we believe in serving everyone by following the holy Hindu mantra ‘Sarva Bhagantu Sukhin:'” he said, adding that the administrative cost of the service is about 5 per cent. This means that out of every 100 100 donated, 95 95 is spent on the people for whom the donation was received.
