
reported September 15–16: Two 24-year-old friends, Malaika Chitre and Navam Kaul, were fatally struck by a southbound No. 4 subway train near the Spring Street station in Manhattan.
Chitre was identified as being of Indian origin. Reports described Kaul as having South Asian roots. New York authorities continued investigating why the pair were on the tracks before the collision.
