Johnson said in the House of Commons, the lower house of the British Parliament, that all members of the House have feelings for India. “We are assisting India with vital medical equipment and we will continue to work with the Indian authorities on whether they may need anything in the future,” he added. The opposition Labor Party has also called for more help, focusing on the humanitarian crisis in India. Lisa Nandy, an Indian-origin Labor MP and shadow foreign minister, questioned in the House that the domestic catastrophe that had engulfed India had now reached such a scale that it had become a global emergency. India accounts for 40 per cent of the world’s cases and more than two million cases in the past one week alone and the peak of the disaster is yet to come.
