Newsdesk – The British government on made a disclosure for bringing a bill of Rights that it says would strengthen free speech and the power of Parliament. But, on this proposal, critics argue will rip up human rights protection for ordinary people.
The government published the bill days after the courts in UK and Europe stopped Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s conservative administration from deporting people seeking asylum in Britain to Rawanda.
The government is all set for bringing a draft law before legislation in Parliament which will seek permission to abolish the Human Rights Act by previous Labour government and bring British Bill of Rights.
The Government has also said it would support and boost press freedom by elevating Right to Freedom of Expression over that of right to privacy. It will also give way to introducing a stronger test for courts to consider before they can order journalists to disclose their sources, the Government said.
It has to face opposition in Parliament if approved as the legislation will bring more difficulties even to the genuine and legal Human Rights claims. Hence , it will deprive foreign nationals convicted in Britain to challenge deportation on Human Rights basis.
The governments putting its side states that such move would help in reducing insignificant and frivolous claims.
After passing the bill , the law will give Britain courts the power to ignore rulings by the European Courts of Human Rights which is ultimate arbiter of Rights Law for dozens of countries including the UK.
