India/Global, August 5, 2026: The Medical Counselling Committee is scheduled to open registration for NEET-UG 2026 counselling on August 5, beginning the centralized admission process for eligible medical aspirants, including candidates applying under the NRI category.
NRI-quota applicants must submit documents establishing their eligibility. Depending on the applicant’s circumstances, these may include proof of the candidate’s NRI status or records demonstrating a qualifying relationship with an NRI parent, relative, sponsor or legal guardian, as permitted under the applicable rules.
Candidates relying on an NRI sponsor may also be asked to provide evidence that the sponsor ordinarily lives abroad, along with the prescribed affidavit and documents supporting the claimed relationship. Applicants should carefully review the current MCC notice because incomplete or inconsistent records can affect the acceptance of an NRI-category claim.
The opening of registration represents the beginning of the 2026 counselling process. It does not amount to the introduction of a new NRI reservation policy. Candidates and parents should check the official MCC website regularly for the definitive schedule, eligibility requirements, document formats and subsequent updates.
