Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Dharamvir, an accountant-cum-cashier posted at Civil Hospital Fazilka, for taking bribe of Rs 25,000.

Disclosing this here on Saturday a spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said the accused Dharamvir has been arrested on the complaint of Ravinder Kumar, a resident of village Muradwala Bhomgarh, District Fazilka.

He added that the complainant Ravinder Kumar was running a canteen on contract at Civil Hospital Fazilka and the Accountant was entrusted to clear his bills for food etc. The complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the accountant had demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from him for passing the bills.

The spokesperson said that after investigating the complaint by Vigilance, the accused was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs. 25000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.

The spokesperson informed that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Ferozepur. Further investigation into the case is under progress.
