Chandigarh: Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party government and the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for taking hundreds of people from across the state “for a ride” in the name of ‘Janta Milni’ and refusing to meet them in this scorching heat.

“It was a selectively scripted and screened show to create an illusion of governance not open to common people”, Warring remarked while responding to refusal of permission to hundreds of people who had gathered outside Punjab Bhawan here to list their grievances before the Chief Minister following public announcement by the government.

Warring told the Chief Minister, “you have actually taken them for a ride”. He said, when the government had pre-decided the list of people it was to attend and entertain, why did it mislead people who travelled from every nook and corner of the state to meet the Chief Minister only to be refused entry into the venue in this sultry heat.

The PCC president said, today’s exercise was another leaf from the AAP’s “book of lies, deceit and fake optics”. “First of all why do you need to call people to Chandigarh as if you are feudal lords doing people a favour by calling them to your doorsteps and listening to their problems”, he said, while reminding the Chief Minister, “aren’t you the same person who told his MLAs that they need not come to Chandigarh but should reach out to people at their doorsteps?”
