Several financial institutions, tech corporations and even a parking garage across Canada and the United States received bomb threats on Thursday afternoon.
At least 20 e-mail threats in San Francisco and a dozen in San Jose, five more in Palo Alto and at least two in Oakland were received.
“This morning approximately at 10 am, the police department started receiving bomb threats,” said the San Francisco Police.
The San Francisco Fire Credit Union of California street just one of the institutions which received a threat and that was of particular concern for the Credit Union’s next door neighbors.
“And we were told that there was a bomb scare, the whole JCC (Jewish Community Centre) was evacuated,” one of the members of the JCC told.
The JCC self-evacuated so quickly that some had to jump out of the swimming pool and had to wait nearby in the bathroom for at least 2 hours.
“Because it’s a Jewish organization, we have to put a lot of thought into their security,” a member of the Jewish community said.
Eventually, a team of bomb-sniffing dog cleared the scene but San Francisco Police had to respond to and clear every single one of those approximately 20 locations around the city.
Now, the task is of figuring out who caused all of this trouble.
