After #MeToo wave hit author and columnist Chetan Bhagat, he publicly apologised for sexually harassing Ira Trivedi but on Monday, he released a series of screenshots defending charges levied on him. The screenshots of a ‘self-explanatory’ email were sent by Trivedi in 2013.

Bhagat’s tweet said, “So who wanted to kiss whom? Self-explanatory email from 2013 to me, esp last line, easily shows her claims from 2010 are false, and she knows this too.” He further mentioned that his family was being harassed by all the allegation charged against him.

“This mental harassment of me and my family has to stop. Please don’t harm a movement with fake charges .’he said

However, as per the email screenshots that were shared, the warm message ended with a line- “Miss u Kiss u”, which was sent by Ira. She is a daughter of a Delhi-based IAS officer and Bhagat pointed the fact in his tweet stating, “It is she who comes from a very powerful family connected to pool party (regularly dropped top names of people in power then). I was less known in 2010, was intimidated by her. My old col on Air India talks of entitled IAS kid demanding upgrades at Air India counter.”

Bhagat further stated the constant abuse he faced after the sexual harassment allegations and claimed that the Me Too movement is about truth and said, “Please don’t believe such nonsense. I may go silent on twitter to heal my family but I won’t be shamed or silenced.”
