Chandigarh – Shiromani Akali Dal Vice President, Former MP and core committee member Jagmeet Brar has wtitten a leader to Shiromani Akali Dal Badal Sukhbir Badal jolting down seven points to strengthen the party.
Brar said he has submitted the letter to a member of core committee. In the letter , Brar has given seven points of suggestions for the strengthening of the party. His first point suggests that all the office bearers of core committee, the president , PAC , district Jathedars and all frontal organisations should submit resignations to the chief Patron of the party.
In his letter which he had written on May 27, he has also talked about Anandpur resolution prepared by 11 members in 1973 should be the core agenda of the party for next 25 years. He also suggested for shifting the party Headquater to Amritsar.
He writes that three working presidents should be made from Malwa , Doaba and Majha belts. Women and reserve category should also be given representation. The term of party president should not exceed more than 10 years in anycase.
He also said being the senior most leader Balwinder Singh Bhunder should coordinate with important Sikh leaders to bring complete unity of Panth. He also suggested a few name of prominent leaders who had been part of Akali party at once upon and time and suggested to work on reuniting them and bring them back to the partyfold.

My seven humble suggestions to strengthen the Shiromani Akali Dal.
1. To strengthen the SAD, we must all immediately relinquish offices we hold. The president, the Core committee, the PAC, all office bearers, the district Jathedars and all frontal organisations must submit their resignations to the Secretary General of the party.(chief patron of the party)
For the time being the Senior most leader, S. Balwindar singh Bhunder should coordinate with important Sikh leaders to bring complete unity of the Panth. The services of the senior Sikh leaders/ Akali sympathisers should be taken by meeting them individually.
2. For the Sangrur By election, the Akali dal must fight on its symbol with the core issue of Special status to Punjab. Above all, Peace of Punjab should be a paramount issue. This will be a golden beginning for our most inclusive agenda, to involve approximately thirty million (three crore Punjabis), to struggle for their rights.
3. The Anandpur Sahib original Resolution prepared by the 11 member committee on 16,17 October, 1973 at Sri Anandpursahib should be the core agenda for the coming 25 years. It’s been 49 years since passing of the resolution and we have not moved an inch forward on this sacred and issue based agenda for the Sikhs. The Anandpursahib resolution is not at all anti National as dubbed by our communal anti Punjab and anti Sikh forces. This resolution speaks for giving special status to Punjab already provided to 13 states in the country. Both our neighbours Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been given special status. This is the only way to bail out Punjab from the present Financial emergency. Free bees and the ‘(Mufatkhori) agenda will ruin Punjab further.
4. We should not fall into any trap of divisive and separate agenda. Any person to be made candidate for the Sangrur by election must adhere to the principals of the party to take all Punjabis together. ‘Sarbat Da Bhala’.
5. Three working presidents should be announced from the Majha, Malwa and Doaba belts. I suggest a panel of five names which you can decide in consultation with the Secretary General Balwinder singh Bhunder. Our three MLA’s should be special invitees to the core committee and we need to give representation to women and reserved category.

We should immediately constitute an eleven member parliamentary Board. There should be at least two women, two SC leaders and two leaders from the Backward classes. We should also have a ‘SEHJDHARI’ Sikh to be included in this important board. We should try to involve families and persons who believe in the concept and Philosophy of Guru Nanak Maharaj ;’Naam japo ‘’ Kirat karo , ‘Vand’ chhakko, the very core spirit mentioned in the Anandpursahib resolution .
6. The term of the president of the party should not exceed more then ten years in any case. This will give the community the next crop of able leadership, which has become almost distinct and non existent This hard decision will be one of the biggest reforms in our party set up. The SAD should strictly follow one ticket norm to one family in the future to shun ‘’Parivarvad’ The Future SGPC elections must be fought on the inclusive agenda of uniting the entire Sikhs Globally/ the powerful Sikh diaspora, who believe in the religious philosophy of Sikhism and the great teachings of our Guru’s. Those who believe in Guru Granth Sahib; ‘Hazara Hazoor’, ‘Sarb Kala Bharpur’, ‘Kalyug ki Bohit’. There are thousands of non Sikh people who visit Gurudwara’s daily and also recite the Japuji sahib. The process of Panthic unity should be accelerated and I offer my services to the organisation in this regard. I am of the very firm opinion that the following important leaders who left us can return back home. I suggest you and the Panth a few names like; Sardar Ravindar singh former Speaker, Sukhdev singh jee dhindsa, Birdevinder singh former deputy speaker, Balwant singh Ramuwalia, the Barnala family, the Talwandi family, the Tohra sahib legacy, Sukhdev singh Bhaur , late Captain Kanwaljeet Singh’s family, the Sarna brothers of Delhi, Manjit singh Gk and many more. We had the most brilliant women leader Kiranjot Kaur grand daughter of Master Tara singh jee , who led the Akali dal with distinction and grace. We must provide her with a stature and position befitting the contribution of the family,Family of late Kartar singh Bhinderanwale, who organised the Sikh Panth during the worst crisis. Revered Sikh saints scholars should be involved.The party leadership should meet them at their respective places and request them of their home coming.
7. The school of thought and nursery of Akali dal which provided Leadership is the All India Sikh students federation. We must immediately set the course of reviving this organisation. Only students studying in colleges/ Universities should be its members and office bearers. The party Headquarters should be shifted immediately to ‘Sifti da ghar’, Sri Amritsar sahib. All important meetings should be held at Amritsar. All though the concrete city Chandigarh is a big Architectural monument but fails to inspire us of our great History and glorious past. the holy sufferings we made the Akali’s made in their 101 year History.

The rift in Shiromani Akali Dal has started somewhere after Sangrur byelection as party had minimal stake in voting graph. Then , another Akali leader Manpreet Singh Ayali also bycotted voting during President’s election a few days ago whereas Akali Dal has announced to vote for NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu. In another instance , Jhoonda committee was constituted to introspect the reasons behind the party’s performance in Sangrur byelection. Senior leader Prem Singh Chandumajra has raised a question over the report that is submitted straightaway in core committee. He viewed that the report was to be submitted before review committee.
