A Sikh pipe band has paid tribute at the grave of Maharaja Duleep Singh’s infant son in Kenmore Churchyard, drawing renewed attention to an important connection between Sikh and Scottish history.
Members of the Sri Dasmesh Pipe Band performed at the burial site of the child, who died shortly after birth in 1865. Maharaja Duleep Singh—the last sovereign of the Sikh Empire—lived in the Kenmore area for a period after being taken to Britain following the annexation of Punjab.
Local and Sikh community representatives supported the commemorative visit. Organizers said such initiatives could help preserve historical sites and introduce younger generations to lesser-known chapters of the Sikh experience in Britain.
