Several BJP leaders and workers in Lakshadweep resigned on Friday in protest over the filing of sedition charges against filmmaker Aisha Sultana.

The BJP office-bearers said the allegations were “untruthful” and aimed at destroying her and her family’s future. They added that Lakshadweep’s BJP unit was aware of Administrator Praful K Patel’s “anti-democratic and anti-people” policies.
