Chandigarh: The Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today asked the party cadres to be battle ready to hold the government to account. Addressing a meeting of the grass-roots workers drawn from all over Punjab and representatives of the frontal organisations, Warring said, Congress party’s role was more important to hold the Aam Aadmi Party to account and not let it get away with the promises it made before elections.

Speaking on the occasion, Warring said, the responsibility on the Congress party as the principal opposition party was more serious since the AAP government had floundered right from the beginning. He said, people have got disillusioned with the government sooner than it was expected. He also announced the statewide programme to remind the government of its promises and will ensure that it does not wriggle out of its commitments.

He said he was overwhelmed with the confidence and enthusiasm among the party workers. He told them he will be soon announcing the public contact programme for the entire state. The PCC president reiterated his resolve that the Congress workers will not need to reach out to him, he will reach out to them at their doorsteps, at the ward/panchayat, block and the district level.
