BALTIMORE, August 5, 2026: Maryland Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller has highlighted the role of the Indian-American community in strengthening economic, professional and civic connections between Maryland and India.
Speaking in connection with an American Telugu Association gathering in Baltimore, Miller said cooperation with India was generating opportunities in trade, investment and innovation. She also recognized the contributions of Telugu and other Indian Americans to entrepreneurship, healthcare and public service in Maryland.
Miller, who was born in Andhra Pradesh, separately attended a gathering of the Andhra Medical College Alumni of North America. She acknowledged the work of Indian-origin physicians in healthcare, mentoring and community service.
The remarks demonstrate the growing visibility of Indian Americans in Maryland’s economic and civic life. However, no new trade agreement, public grant or formal investment programme was announced at these events.
