Sikh community representatives from across the United States gathered in Houston for a series of discussions focusing on sewa, religious freedom, democratic participation and cooperation across different communities.
The programme was organized by the Sikh Coalition in partnership with Interfaith America. According to the organizers, nearly 20 Sikh leaders participated in the wider initiative, while a public panel attracted almost 50 people from civic, interfaith and business organizations.
The discussion examined how Sikh principles—particularly selfless service—can contribute to the common good while helping protect religious liberty and democratic values. The speakers included attorney Harpreet Singh Mokha, United Sikh Movement Executive Director Harsimran Kaur and Sikh Coalition co-founder Jasmit Singh.
A separate “Know Your Rights” session was also held for Sikh truck drivers. Representatives discussed workplace and regulatory issues affecting the trucking community, along with broader concerns about transnational repression.
The organizers additionally visited the Sikh National Center and the Sikh Center of the Gulf Coast Area to engage directly with members of the local sangat.
