The equity benchmark indexes opened on a positive note on Tuesday, a day before Diwali. The 50-crip Nifty started at 10,552 as compared to Monday’s close of10,524.
The 30-share Sensex opened at 35,076.24 against its previous close of 34,950.92.
After minutes into trade, the S&P BSE Sensex gained 161.55 points or 0.46% to trade at 35,112.47.
While the Nifty50 barometer of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) traded at 10,573 with a gain of49 points or 0.47%.
Out of 50 Nifty stocks, twenty-six stocks gained in trade.
In the sectoral landscape, IT stocks led the gains with 1.12%.
Globally, the MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan up surged 0.15% and Japan’s Nikkei gained 0.5%.
Meanwhile, the Indian rupee reclaimed 21 paise to 72.91 against the US dollar on Tuesday’s early trade on raised selling from exporters.
