HALIFAX – Six people have been arrested by Halifax police outside a Canada Post sorting facility in the north end o the city.
In a statement by police on Sunday night, says that the protesters were posing a “serious public safety threat” at the facility and not obeying with officers’ attempts to disperse them.
Numerous vehicles were clogging up the traffic near the facility, affecting ‘two-way traffic’.
“It respects and upholds the right of citizens for peaceful and safe protest,” but the officers operated in the public safety interest.
After the federal government ruled postal workers back on the job, the protesters have been rallying outside Canada Post facilities all through the weekend.
In a statement issued on Saturday afternoon, Canada Post said that it has contacted police about the similar rally in Mississauga in Ontario, and was considering its options to deal with the protest march.
