Chandigarh, To set up a sports wing schools in different districts, the Punjab Sports Department is conducting selection trials for various games for under-14, 17 and 19 age group boys and girls in all the districts on February 12 and 13, 2020, while trials for the swimming will be held on April 6. Divulging further, desirous players of under-14 should be born after January 1, 2007, under-17 after January 1, 2004, while players of under-19 age group should be born after January 1, 2002, Deputy Director (Sports) Mr. Kartar Singh said. The trials for various games are to be conduct in Guru Nanak Stadium Amritsar, Sports Stadium Bathinda, Sports Stadium Barnala, Nehru Stadium Faridkot, Sports Stadium, Jalalabad (Fazilka), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium Ferozepur, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Sports Stadium Fatehgarh Sahib and Sports Stadium Gurdaspur, he informed.
Deputy Director further informed that on both the days, the trials will also be conducted at Outdoor Stadium Hoshiarpur, Hans Raj Stadium, Jalandhar, Olympian Surjeet Hockey Stadium, Guru Nanak Stadium, Kapurthala, Sri Mukatsar Sahib Sports Stadium, Nehru Stadium Mansa, Guru Nanak Stadium Ludhiana, PAU Ludhiana, Vero-drum of PAU Ludhiana, Guru Nanak College Moga, Multi-purpose Sports Stadium Sector-78 SAS Nagar. ITI Sports Stadium, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Raja Bhalindra Sports Complex, Polo Ground, Patiala, Multi-purpose Sports Stadium Pathankot, Nehru Stadium Rupnagar, War Heroes Stadium Sangrur and Sports Stadium, Tarn Taran. Giving details of the eligibility criteria for the players, Deputy Director Mr. Kartar Singh informed that willing player should be physically and medically fit. Players must have a position in district/state level competitions or participated in national level competitions for the admission in Sports School, Jalandhar.
He stated that the player willing to take admission in sports wings to be set up in different districts, must have attained position in district level competitions or participated in the state level competition. In addition, new players can be considered on a performance during trials. He said that players from all the districts can take part in the trials for admission in the State Sports School, Jalandhar, whereas only concerned districts’ players can take part for admission in sports wings trials. He said that selected residential and day-scholar player would be given Rs.200 and Rs.100 per day, respectively for food/refreshment besides sports equipments and coaching. He said that willing players should report to the concerned District Sports Officers for registration sharp at 8:00 AM at the respective venue. Entry forms may be obtained free of cost from the trial location on the day of trials or can be attained from concerned District Sports Offices before the trial date. Participating players should bring 2 original passport size photographs along with their original birth certificate, Aadhaar card, game certificates and copies of the same. He added that Players will not be eligible for TA/ DA.
