LONDON: The third edition of the UK Sikh Games began on July 31 at Brunel University and other sporting venues around London, offering three days of competition and community participation.
The 2026 programme comprises 11 sports, including football, cricket, hockey, netball, athletics, cycling, badminton and wrestling. Golf, boxing and tennis have been introduced as new disciplines this year.
Competitions have been organized for different ages and abilities. Selected events include dedicated categories for children, women, junior athletes and older participants. Spectator admission is free, according to the organizers.
The Sikh Games operates as a UK-based community-interest organization. Its stated objective is to increase sporting participation among ethnic-minority communities and help create more inclusive playing environments.
Alongside competitive sport, the initiative seeks to connect Sikh families and encourage young people to adopt healthier and more active lifestyles. Partnerships listed by the organization include national sporting bodies representing football, hockey, rugby and tennis.
