Canada maintains study and work permit timelines for Indians as visitor and super-visa waits increase
TORONTO/NEW DELHI: Canada’s latest immigration-processing estimates indicate that study and work permit timelines for applicants in India remain unchanged, while projected waits for visitor and super visas have increased slightly.
Study permits submitted from India are currently estimated to take approximately five weeks. The corresponding estimate for work permits remains nine weeks.
Visitor-visa processing has increased from 21 to 22 days. The estimated wait for a super visa—used by eligible parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents—has risen from 49 to 52 days.
These figures are particularly relevant to Indian families planning visits to relatives in Canada. The three-day increase in the super-visa estimate does not represent a change in eligibility requirements or the introduction of a new immigration restriction.
IRCC updates processing estimates periodically according to existing workloads and application inventories. The displayed timelines indicate how long a newly submitted case may take under current conditions; they are not guaranteed completion dates.
