Chandigarh – Today an important meeting of five Kisan Organizations namely Bharti Kisan Union Rajewal, All India Kisan Federation, Kisan Sangharsh Committee, Punjab, Bharti Kisan Union Mansa and Azad Kisan Sangharsh Committee was held here at Kisan Bhawan. Meeting was attended by the Presidents of above named unions Balbir Singh Rajewal, Prem Singh Bhangu, Kanwalpreet Singh Pannu, Bogh Singh Mansa and Harjinder Singh Tanda apart from other leaders.
Meeting expressed satisfaction about the preparation and enthusiasm about the Morcha among the people of Punjab especially farmers going to be launched on the issues of acute water crisis, environment pollution and attack on the federal system of Punjab.
After through assessment of the prevailing situation and taking into consideration the Zira Morcha launched by the people of 40 villages against the liquor factory which has polluted the underground water of the area, the meeting decided to post pone the launch of the Morcha from December 30 to January 17,2023.
The meeting decided that on December 30, five Kisan Organizations will go to Zira in support of Morcha in a convoy of 1000 vehicles. Organizations supported the agitation of uprooted people of Latifpura and demanded their immediate rehabilitation.They also opposed the setting up of 26 sialo by Adani group of Punjab against which farmers fought prolonged struggle at Delhi borders last year .
Meeting opposed the move and recent notification of the Punjab government ousting the poor farmers from shamlat lands who are in occupation and reclaimed these lands in the last few decades. Instead the government should implement the report of Justice Kuldip Singh Tribunal which clearly states that bureaucrats and high ups have illegally occupied shamlat land in surrounding areas of Chandigarh.
Next meeting of the Organizations will be held on January 11 at Kisan Bhawan for further assessment of the preparation and situation. Others who were present in the meeting include Gulzar Singh Salempur, Pawan Kumar Sogalpur, Paramjit Singh Baidwan, Beant Singh, Charanjit Singh, Kirpal Singh Siao, Balwinder Singh, Malkiat Singh and Gurdeep Singh.
