Chandigarh: The 3rd state level conference of Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union was organised on May 7 in the premises of Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh. The leaders of National body, Indian Journalists Union President Srinivas Reddy and former President SN Sinha attended the conference. The election of the PCJU were held to elect new body of the state unit.

Senior leader Balbir Singh Jandu elected as the new President and Pal Singh Nauli elected as new Secretary General succeeding Balwinder Singh Jammu and Pritam Singh Ruppal respectively. Now, Balwinder Singh Jammu will hold the position of Chairman whereas Jai Singh Chhibber, Bhushan Sood, Rajan Mann are elected as Vice Presidents and Bindu Singh is elected as Cashier of the state unit.

Adding more to the official list, Santosh Gupta, Gagandeep Arora, Joginder Mann and MP Dhawan are elected as Secretaries. Besides this, there will be 31 members in the working committee whereas the Presidents and General Secretaries of all the district units are ‘but obvious’ members of the working committee according to the laid down parameters. The new team of the state unit will be organising ‘Demand Day’ on May 10 to press upon the long lingering demands of the working journalists at sector 17 plaza in Chandigarh.
