Hundreds of Chinese and international technology companies have gathered in Beijing to demonstrate robots designed for factories, logistics, hospitality and other commercial applications.
More than 300 companies are participating in the World Robot Conference, which features over 2,000 exhibits and more than 150 product launches, according to Beijing authorities.
The displays include humanoid machines performing kickboxing as well as industrial robots capable of sorting products, carrying containers and loading small components. Some manufacturers say their systems are already being used in automotive plants and logistics operations.
China views robotics as a strategic industry and an increasingly important area of competition with the United States. Investor interest is also growing, although widespread commercial deployment of humanoid robots remains limited and many projects are still undergoing testing.
