Chandigarh – Senior congress leader & Punjab’s leader of the opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday has demanded an explanation from chief minister Bhagwant Mann for the complete collapse of the law & order situation in the state.
Bajwa said the recent turn of events in Punjab including broad day light murder of Pardeep Singh Dhodi alias Raju at Kotkapura has completely exposed the Bhagwant Mann government how it failed to ensure safety and security of the common man.
“ In fact the entire police brass including senior police officers holding the command as well as the rank and file seem to be failing under the leadership, supervision and guidance of Bhagwant Mann who holds the portfolio for home affairs & justice”, Bajwa said.
Parents of Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moossewala who was brutally murdered on May 29 have already expressed their displeasure at the ongoing police investigation and were even ready to quit India to settle abroad apprehending no justice from Bhagwant Mann government.
The Non Resident Indians (NRIs) who came from UK, Canada and USA to hold marriage functions of their kids had to face the onslaught of liquor mafia goons in Amritsar while the police remained a mere mute spectator to the entire incident. The NRIs have now pledged never to come back again to Punjab.
In Abhohar the kinnow growers have already threatened to leave Punjab and shift business to neighbouring states such as Haryana and Rajasthan after they complained about truck unions patronaged by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) extracting “Goonda Tax” from them.
Under such circumstances the Punjabis would be forced and compelled to live under constant fear and intimidation.
Bajwa said Bhagwant Mann so far has not given any explanation of the crumbling law and order situation in the state. The police officers he had sent to face the media queries were rather seen ducking for shelter instead of answering the questions with some confidence.
