Chandigarh, Punjab Food, Today Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu directed the officials of the food and civil supplies department to complete the updating process of smart cards by 25 February, 2020 by all means. He was presiding over a review meeting pertaining to the smart cards with the field officers of 12 districts at Anaj Bhawan, sector-39. Ration should be disbursed on priority to those beneficiaries, whose names have already been registered on the portal of department, The minister said. Reviewing the progress of Amritsar, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Moga, Rupnagar, SBS Nagar, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar and Tarn Taran, he had received complaints against some Food inspectors regarding their apathetic approach towards departmental work, Mr Ashu said.

The Minister instructed district officers to closely observe the working of all food inspectors. Mr. Ashu also assessed the disbursement of food grains process. Meanwhile, some officials apprised minister about transportation problems and non-payment of dues etc. About which, the minister directed the concerned officers to take immediate action. Mr. Ashu also took stock of the milling progress of paddy besides the preparations of procurement for the upcoming season. During the meeting, Director Food and Civil Supplies Mrs. Anindita Mitra and others were also present.
