The San Joaquin County Historical Museum in Lodi is preparing to open an exhibition documenting the history, resilience and contributions of Sikhs in the United States.
Titled The Sikhs in America: Faith, Resilience, and Power, the exhibition will use historical photographs, artifacts and community accounts to explore Sikh participation in agriculture, industry, politics and civic life. Particular attention will be given to the role of Sikh immigrants in California’s Central Valley, where the community has maintained a presence for more than a century.
The exhibition is scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on August 22. It is expected to offer younger generations and the wider public an opportunity to learn about Sikh migration, identity and community-building in America.
