Canada has appointed Angad Singh Dhillon as its next Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates. He will succeed Radha Krishna Panday.
Before receiving the diplomatic appointment, Dhillon served as director of operations and stakeholder relations in the Office of Prime Minister Mark Carney. Global Affairs Canada says he assisted the government in rebuilding high-level diplomatic communication with important partners, including India and China.
Dhillon also coordinated efforts to attract investment into Canada and helped plan the country’s inaugural national Investment Summit. Earlier in his career, he served as chief of staff to two federal cabinet ministers responsible for small business and transportation.
His previous roles included work connected with the G7, G20, United Nations General Assembly, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, International Transport Forum and international climate conferences.
Dhillon’s appointment comes as Canada and the UAE seek to deepen their relationship in trade, investment and diplomacy.
