Brampton – After days of silence, Raj Grewal finally emerged posting an 11-minute video explanation on Facebook.
In it, the Brampton East MP Raj Grewal speaks how gambling recreationally soon became an addiction, and he played high stakes Blackjack and combating a desk into the millions of dollars.
Grewal says he informed the Prime Minister’s Office of his addiction on November 19.
In fact, cooperated by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau while at the G20 Summit in Argentina, Trudeau also admitted to knowing about a separate investigation reportedly involving Grewal and a land deal in Brampton.
That would have appeared the Liberals and Grewal were on the same page this week when the MP announced that he would be walking away from politics.
But now it seems, Grewal had a change of heart.
“I will be making a final decision about my political future before Parliament resumes in the New Year,” Grewal said.
And that prompted this tweet from govt whip Mark Holland saying on Saturday morning –
“I confirmed, in writing, earlier this morning to the Speaker of the House of Commons that Raj Grewal, MP for Brampton East, is not a member of the Liberal Caucus #CDNpoli.”
And because he is hanging on, liberal strategist, Greg MacEachern says Grewal will continue to be dogged by all these questions.
“The media is gone find you, somewhere, somehow, so you can’t put off answering those questions, and I don’t think we have fewer questions at this point of situation,” said MacEachern.
And the House of Commons sits for only two more weeks before Christmas Day, leaving Grewal very little time to make a decision about his political future.
