Canada post strike

Canada Post has received a strike notice from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers that workers could walk off the job as early on next week.

Rotating strikes will start on Monday, said the union on behalf of 50,000 Canada Post employees if the demands are not reached with the Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers (RSMC) and Urban Postal Operations.

The union is demanding to have better health and safety measures, end forced overtime and improved job security.

The locations of the strikes are still to be decided.

After postal workers voted overpoweringly in the late summer in the support of possible walkout to back their contract demands, the possibility of walkout has hovered over Canada Post since 26th September.

The biggest parcel shipping company in the nation is Canada Post, having delivered about 1 million parcels per day during the holiday season last year.
