New York: In over two decades, New York has witnessed a weekend without homicide or any shooting for the very first time.

The last time the city went with no incident of shooting or homicide over a weekend was in 1993, about 25 years ago, stated the reports.

James O’Neill, New York Police Department Chief, said, “We went Friday, Saturday, Sunday without any shooting or homicide.”

Adding further he said, “That’s the first time in decades and that’s something, not just the NYPD, but all New Yorkers can be proud of.”

In NY, the most shooting-prone areas are in Bronx and Brooklyn.

For instance, the weekend of 6 -7 October was “frightful”, with numerous shootings in the two areas.

Even though the famous city welcomed the rumble-free weekend, statistics show that murders in the city are on a rise again.

In the first half of 2018, the city recorded 147 murders, an 8% increase over the same phase in 2017.
