Lethbridge / Canada – In Canada and USA, the Drug smuggling cases are on the rise. Another such case has come to light.
A Canadian court has convicted an Indian-American couple living in the United States for 10 and 9 years in prison for smuggling cocaine into Canada through Canada’s Coots border.
The court has given the decision in a case of trying to smuggle 99.5 kg of cocaine.
Husband and wife Gurminder Toor and Kirandeep Toor were stopped at Coots Border by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in December 2017 as they were on their way to deliver a commercial truck trailer from California to Airdrie (Alberta). During the search, 99.5 kg of cocaine valued at $5 million to $8 million was recovered from various parts of their truck.
Gurminder Toor has been convicted 10 years and Kirandeep for 9 years in prison. According to information received, Kirandeep Kaur is currently pregnant. Gurminder Toor, a US citizen, will be sent to the US and Kirandeep Toor, whose US green card has expired, will be deported to India.
