Chandigarh: In the wake of the efforts being made by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government to provide all possible relief to the youth who are suffering the consequences of the vague policies of the previous governments, Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema and Higher Education and Languages Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today met the teachers working as guest faculty in various government colleges.
In the meeting held here at the Finance Minister’s office, the Finance Minister while expressing his government’s strong desire to solve their problems, said that it would be the first time that any government has been inviting the employee unions for the resolution of their issues without waiting for a strike or protest by them.
While discussing the regularization of services and salary issues, both the ministers sought full cooperation from the College Teacher Unions so that such a path can be adopted that would not face any legal hurdle. On the praise extended by the Higher Education Minister for the services being rendered by these teachers, the Finance Minister said that the Finance department has been working for all possible solutions despite the fact that the state is facing tough fiscal times.
Cheema appealed to the union leaders that while efforts are being made by the government to solve their problems, the union leaders should also cooperate with the government by suggesting a solution after making a mutual consensus with their fellow teachers.
The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary Finance Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary Higher Education Jaspreet Talwar, Secretary Finance Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, Special Secretary Finance Mohit Tiwari, and DPI Colleges Rajiv Gupta.
