-JAKHAR LASHES OUT AT BJP, CLAIMS PRESENT FAULTY FORM OF GST KILLED BUSINESSES IN THE COUNTRY

Ludhiana, July 1: Lashing out at the NDA government for killing the businesses in the country by implementing faulty design of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president and Gurdaspur MP Sunil Jakhar on Sunday claimed that the Congress will remove all anomalies from GST after coming into power in 2019.

Jakhar accompanied by Punjab Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, was addressing a press conference at circuit house on the first anniversary of GST’s execution.

He took the dig at the NDA government over its one of minister’s statement that GST will be simplified which shows they too have accepted the fact of enormous complications in the GST.

The ease of doing business nowhere in the country, he alleged and criticized the union government for completely changing the spirit of the GST which was dreamt by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

The PPCC president said that the motive of GST was to provide one nation one tax regime in the country but five slabs in this tax have forced to industrialists to shut down their businesses and given only sufferings to the ordinary people.

Gurdaspur MP also told that earlier RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and now union government’s Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian resigned because they too felt GST is implemented in haste and without any homework or preparation due to which businesses worst hit.

He claimed GST regime needs a complete overhaul and it will be done as a topmost priority after forming the government in the center in 2019.

Jakhar also announced that he along with all congress’s MPs will raise the issue of Punjab’s businessmen in the Lok Sabha.

Ludhiana mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, City Congress Chief Gurpreet Gogi, Rural Congress Chief Gurdev Singh Lapran, senior Congress leader Krishan Kumar Bawa, Youth Congress Chief Rajiv Raja and others were present.
