While it is known that Deepika Padukone will soon be joining global superstars like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Helen Mirren at Madame Tussauds in London, we have learnt that her statue will be placed next to that of Lady Diana. Interestingly, there is a separate section for Bollywood actors at Madame Tussauds. However, Deepika will not be placed amongst other B-Town celebrities. The actress will mark an entry into the A-list club — a special area dedicated to global achievers. Deepika will be the only Indian actor to have a wax statue in the A-list section.
Recalling the time when she visited the museum as a kid with her parents, the Padmaavat actress says, “I was most influenced by seeing Princess Diana’s wax statue. Standing next to her at Madame Tussauds is probably the closest I would ever get.” A team of expert artists met Deepika in London for the all-important sitting for her figures, where they took over 200 specific measurements, as well as photographs to create an authentic figurine. The first statue will launch in the UK capital in early 2019, while the one in Delhi will follow a few months later.
