Delhi – The National Capital Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday and which is the lowest in month of January in two years. The data is released by the India Meteorological Department.
The figure was recorded at the Safdarjung observatory, which provides representative data for the city.
Whereas, Ayanagar observatory in South Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 2.6 degrees, while the weather stations at Lodhi Road and Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 2.8 degrees Celsius and 5.2 degrees Celsius.
As the nearby states around Delhi are also facing the same weather, the schedule of trains and flights is also delayed. A thick layer covered the National Capital and lowered the visibility.
The IMD has predicted cold wave and cold day conditions to continue over northwest India during the next two days till Monday. As the prevailing light winds and high moisture near the surface over Indo-Gangetic plains continue , dense to very dense fog is very likely to continue in various parts during the night and morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, UP and Chandigarh during next two days till Monday and in isolated pockets thereafter for subsequent three days over the region.
